THE CASE AGAINST LYNN JENKINS CHAPTER 50 - IF IT WASN'T POLITICS IT WOULD BE MONEY LAUNDERING

This is Lynn Jenkins, she does not represent us

The Center for Responsive Politics' OpenSecrets.org has a page dedicated to Mystery PACs. The type of Political Action Committee comes about from a surplus of campaign cash. A politician moves money into "separate pot of money to help other politicians," according to OpenSecrets.org.

Lynn Jenkins seems to be getting close to the point where she will have her own Mystery PAC. Her campaign donated money, ostensibly raised to assure her reelection, to other candidates. Here's the list as of today, courtesy of OpenSecrets.org at http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/expend.php?cycle=2010&cid=N00029077&type=I.

There was also for $209 to California Republican Kevin McCarthy was for a PDA device, that' a personal digital assistant for those not in the know. I guess the Radio Shack was closed so Jenkins bought the PDA from McCarthy. Lynn Jenkins spent $237,404 contributed to her campaign on other Republican Candidates. I'd like to suggest that the new Mystery PAC is the candidates' campaign committees.

Cheryl Hudspeth raised $12,075 while Lynn Jenkins gave other Republican candidates for Congress $237,404. I've said it before and I'll say it again campaign finance is legalized money laundering. When Jenkins can funnel more than a quarter of her campaign committee's expenditures to other candidates then there is no accountability. Voters in those other districts don't know where all this money comes from.

The really rich folks that Lynn Jenkins serves, like Kansas' homegrown tycoons - the Koch Brothers, can and have directed their Koch Industries Political Action Committee to give Jenkins $5,000 and then the Koch Cash gets distributed to other Political Action Committees. That was another $40,000, of which Jenkins took $35,500. Now Jenkins is turning around and spreading cash on Republican candidates like farmers spread manure over fields. Everyone's hoping something will grow.

Now Jenkins is urging that the Koch brothers, and others in the top 2% of American taxpayers The Washington Post is reporting that this cockamamie plan, which Jenkins supports, will add $36 Billion to the deficit next year.  The price tag for the Fat Cat's Boondoggle will be $700 billion over ten years, according to President Obama, as reported by Reuters. Looks like the legalized money laundering may just be in the rinse cycle.

THE CASE AGAINST LYNN JENKINS CHAPTER 49 - FOLLOWING THE CAMPAIGN CASH

In any other line of work money donated to Congressional campaign committees would be investigated for money laundering. You'd think that funds donated to one candidate or another would be used to elect that candidate. That's not necessarily the case.

Evan Bayh , the retiring United States Senator, and the man who would be Indiana's next governor left the Senate with $10 million in his war chest. Bayh is being chided by other Democrats for not using any of that money to help the struggling campaigns of other Senate Democrats. That includes newly defeated Indiana Democrat Brad Ellsworth who lost to the old school, D.C. insider, Senator elect Dan Coats.

Lynn Jenkins was re-elected for a second term. Jenkins hauled in more than a million dollars and spent over three quarters of a million dollars. You don't have to be a C.P.A. to know she didn't spend that money getting herself a second term. Much of that money went to other candidates.

Remember the Koch brothers? They are the home grown Kansas tycoons who funneled $35,500 to Jenkins. They, and by "they" I mean their Political Action Committee (PAC) made a direct donation of $5,000 to Jenkins. Then they gave another $40,000 to a handful of other PACs who in turn gave Jenkins $30,500. Now those funds are all mingled in with her campaign committee's general fund and money from that account was shipped out to other Republican candidates.

The Center for Responsive Politics' OpenSecrets.org tell us where Lynn Jenkins campaign committee spent all that money. The link is at http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/expend.php?cid=N00029077&cycle=2010&page=1. Follow the links on the OpenSecrets page to learn more about the disbursements. THE CASE AGAINST LYNN JENKINS CHAPTER 46 - SHE'S UP TO HER EARS IN KOCH CASH

This is Lynn Jenkins, she does not represent us

Lynn Jenkins represent Koch Industries, not us. Koch Industries has given or directed $35,500 to Lynn Jenkins for this year's race to retain their input on her vote. The Koch's didn't get rich by giving money away for nothing.

Koch Industries gave Lynn Jenkins a direct donation of $5,500. By Koch standards that's pretty tame. Kansas' Todd Tiahrt, the loser in the GOP Senatorial Primary, got more Koch Cash than anyone else; $38,850. The Republican who wants to be Tiahrt's successor, Michael Richard Pompeo has taken $31,400 in Koch Cash. Ol' Roy Blunt, running for the seat being vacated by Kit Bond in Missouri received $14.800 in Koch Cash. The complete list of Koch Cash recipients can be found at the Center for Responsive Politics, http://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/recips.php?id=D000000186.

The money trail only begins with the direct donations. Koch Industries provides a classic example of what's wrong with corporate money in our political campaigns. The Koch's send Koch Cash to political action committees (PACs). The PACs turn around and give the Koch Cash to the Koch Candidates. How cozy!

Koch Industries gave the political action committee Freedom Project $10,000. That PAC then gave Lynn Jenkins $10,000. Koch Industries gave the Every Republican is Crucial PAC $10,000. The Every Republican is Crucial PAC then gave Lynn Jenkins $10,000. Koch Industries gave the Growth & Prosperity PAC $10,000. The Growth & Prosperity PAC gave $5,000 to Lynn Jenkins. Koch Industries gave $5,000 to Committee for the Preservation of Capitalism. They in turn gave Lynn Jenkins $2,500. Koch Industries gave the Restore America Pac $5,000. The Restore America PAC gave Lynn Jenkins $2,500.

Now let's connect the dots. Koch Industries spends Koch Cash to lobby the Congress. Below is a partial list of legislation about which Koch Industries lobbied, their position, and the position taken by Lynn Jenkins, bills remaining in committee are not listed.

H. R. 2868 the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Act of 2009. Lynn Jenkins voted "No". Are the Koch's and Lynn Jenkins placing profit above national security?

H.R. 2454 the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009. Lynn Jenkins voted "No". Are the Koch's and Lynn Jenkins placing profit above national security?

H.R. 4173 the Dodd - Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. Lynn Jenkins voted "No".

H.R. 391 a bill to amend the Clean Air Act to provide that greenhouse gases are not subject to the Act, a favorite Koch topic. Lynn Jenkins is a co- sponsor of the legislation. There is a pending Motion to Discharge Committee (meaning the bill is otherwise dead in committee).

S. 1660 the Formaldehyde Standards for Composite Wood Products Act passed the House by voice vote and became law.

H.R. 3617 the Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2009. This bill passed with a required ⅔ majority. Lynn Jenkins voted "Yes".

H.R. 4213 the Unemployment Compensation Act of 2009. Lynn Jenkins voted "No."

H.R. 977 the Derivatives Markets Transparency and Accountability Act of 2009 has been discharged from the Judiciary Committee and placed on the Union Calendar.

H.R. 5629 the Oil Spill Accountability and Environmental Protection Act of 2010 has been discharged from the Committee on Natural Resources and placed on the Union Calendar.

H.R. 2892 the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act of 2010, also known as the American Communities' Right to Public Information Act. Lynn Jenkins voted "No" on passage and "Yes" on agreeing to the Conference Report.

H.R. 3288 the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2010. Lynn Jenkins voted "No".

H.R. 5366 the Overseas Contractor Reform Act passed the House with the required ⅔ majority (409 to 0). Lynn Jenkins voted "Yes".
The full list of legislation about which Koch Industries has lobbied Congress can be found at the Center for Responsive Politics, see: http://www.blogger.com/goog_1928874621

According to the Center for Responsive Politics Kansas' home grown tycoons have spent $3,900,00 in 2010 for lobbying. That's a far cry from their heyday of 2008 when the Brothers Koch Industriously shelled out $20,023,000 lobbying the last session of Congress. And who said restraint wasn't the language of love?

DAVID KOCH IS A RICH RABID RIGHTWING REPUBLICAN WHO WON'T PUT HIS NAME ON HIS SCANDALOUS ADS AGAINST SKELTON AND MOORE

In the Kansas City television market two very similar ads have been running. These ads target Congressman Ike Skelton and Congressional candidate Stephene Moore. Skelton is the long standing Congressman from Missouri's Fourth Congressional District in West Central Missouri. Moore is running to replace her retiring husband, Dennis Moore, in Kansas' Third Congressional District representing Kansas City, Kansas (Wyandotte County) and parts of Johnson County.

The ads attempt to align Skelton and Moore with the Speaker of the House, the President, and some vague "liberal" agenda. In sum, the ad is a distortion short circuiting reality. This propaganda want to blame the Democratic Party for the economic shambles which President Obama inherited. The truth is that Republican economic policies, two wars waged off the books, and tax breaks for the richest of the rich brought our national economy to its knees. They Republicans in Congress have done naught to govern during the 111th Congress.

The obvious question screams at my mind. "Who is this group running these ads , who are the Americans for Prosperity?" Indeed, aren't all Americans for Prosperity? Americans are for healthy children, mom, apple pie, low blood pressure, a cure for cancer, and prosperity. There was the first clue.

Who is it that hides behind the divisive illusion that those who disagree with this group must be Americans for Privation! What gobbledygook! Who are the Americans for Prosperity? Here's a hint, one lump or two?

That's right, there is a great big connection between the rich rabid right wing Republican s who pretended the nation into believing there was actually a grass roots movement called the Tea Party and the alleged Americans for Prosperity. And that connection is money.

Americans for Prosperity is the ultra conservative Republican pressure group from whence the Tea Party emanated. The Kansas connection is the kooky filthy rich David H. Koch of Wichita's Koch Industries. He earlier founded a group called Citizens for a Sound Economy. Americans for Prosperity left the Citizens for a Sound Economy. The jilted group renamed themselves Freedom Works. It must have been an amicable divorce. Freedom Works is Dick Armey's little lobbying/propaganda enterprise heavily involved in the Tea Party.

David Koch and his brother Charles Koch own Koch Industries. Koch Industries is Big Oil and Gas in America's heartland. Koch Industries is America's second largest privately held company. Aqui es mucho dinero. David Koch is the second richest man in America. He is number 19 worldwide. I can only guess that he'd be number one except for the millions he has squandered on politics. But then maybe he paid for the government [deregulation] he wanted.

Don't get all confused thinking David Koch is just like you or me, that dog don't hunt. Koch is the son of petroleum industry innovator Fred Koch. He didn't go to a Kansas public school or any of our higher institutions of advanced learning. No David Koch went to the elite Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts. He graduated from M.I.T. The only good thing I can say is that he was a better than average basketball player setting a single game scoring record of 41 points in 1962/ That record was broken in 2009 by Jimmy Bartolotta. Say, my high school girlfriend married a guy named Bartolotta. Maybe she's related. But that's a different story.

Here's the skinny. David Koch gave $1,000,000 to the Tea Party. What? That's crazy, that's not a tax deductible gift. MIT's high scoring David Koch should know better. You better believe he does. The gift came from the Claude R. Lambe Charitable Foundation. That's a 501 (c) (3) bona fide tax deductible organization started by David's brother Charles Koch to further the Science of Liberty. Well, maybe the liberty of rich people to amass obscene wealth at the expense of regular folk. So yes, David Koch just had his cake and ate it also.

Open Secrets says Koch Industries is a heavy hitter. in 2008 they gave Republicans $1.7 Million. For the 2010 cycle the figure is up to $700,000. Now that doesn't count the Americans for Prosperity.

Frankly I don't give a rat's behind if David Koch wants to throw his money around. I do care that he does it behind the scenes. When you give this kind of cash to influence politics you ought to be required to sign your name so folks can make an honest assessment of your arguments.

Believe me, the only prosperity David Koch cares about is his own, not ours!
